Three Case Studies of Advanced Technologies in the field of Marine Biology from the Marine Biological Association
• 7 million miles of CPR Survey – keeping an historical time series relevant (David Johns) – applying new techniques and technology and modern applications.
• Bio-logging of Ocean Predators (Professor David Sims) – satellite-based tracking of sharks and vessels in relation to environmental changes, development and deployment of tags for quantifying responses to low dissolved oxygen and using shark physiological and behavioural data to understand responses to fishing and climate change for conservation.
• An overview of cell and molecular marine biology research at the MBA (Professor Michael Cunliffe) – living resources, model organisms and collections and the role of the new, world class Huxley microscopy suite in our cell and molecular research.
